About the Artist

Pat Carter grew up on a farm and has owned horses and dogs (and drawn them) most of her life. She has been foxhunting for over 35 years, and much of that time was an honorary whip or MFH.

A graduate of the George School, Smith College, and Georgetown University Law Center. Pat has taught the sixth grade, designed computer systems, and was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia. She eventually quit her day job to pursue her interest in art full time (when not riding!).

Pat attends art workshops and studio classes and has exhibited in many local juried shows. She and her husband Raymond, a former steeplechase jockey and huntsman, have four horses and foxhunt, drive and event.

Commission Details

Buying a custom-made work of art should be a pleasant experience and I will work with you to create the picture you want. If you don't like the final product, you don't have to buy it.

While I like to see my subjects in the flesh, I paint them from photographs (as do other artists). Most paintings with multiple subjects are a composite of several photographs.

If you are close enough to Middletown, Maryland for me to take photographs I would be glad to do that. If not, I would be glad to discuss photography techniques with you.

If you already have pictures that you would like me to use, they will be returned to you. If they were taken by a professional photographer, I will need that person's permission to copy them.

Prices are reasonable and vary based on the size and complexity of the picture. Contact me to discuss turning your ideas into a work of art.
